Happy Birthday, Greg!

I've been furiously baking the last few days. For some reason I decided I would make four cakes for Greg's twenty second birthday this year. Okay, one is technically a pie. Sadly I do not have pictures because there were too many things going on but I had the standard rum cake I've made the last two birthdays, strawberry shortcake loaded with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, a rich chocolate cake with chocolate ganache icing, and my personal favorite of the four, Guinness cheesecake. Of course I pick the one that is technically a pie right?

I also had four Chicago deep dish pizzas from Giordano's overnight shipped here for the birthday party. In a further fit of madness I ordered eight more pizzas from Papa John's, worried that there wasn't going to be enough. I did not need to worry. We'll be eating pizza and cake for days.

Palak Paneer and Naan

Dinner today was my first try at Indian cooking. One of my favorite dishes is palak paneer, which I made along with some naan and mint chutney using the recipes from New Indian Home Cooking by Madhu Gadia. Brushing the naan with some melted butter and sprinkling on some garlic powder and salt: yum!

I like pie.

I like pie. I like food, really. As a result, I decided to document the food in my life, particularly what comes out of my own kitchen. Most of my dinners are made with assistance from my boyfriend, Greg, since we cook and eat most dinners together. I usually take the lead but he is ready to take control and make a nice dinner those days when I'm busy or tired.
